Celebrity Cruises is launching a brand-new concept, Celebrity River Cruises, with two river ships in 2027. The brand’s first two ships are new builds that will sail on the Danube and Rhine Rivers, with an additional eight new ships on order to join their fleet. Itinerary and pricing details for their inaugural season will be released on Wednesday, September 3.

Guests with a Celebrity River Cruises placeholder will have priority access to book a 2027 Celebrity River Cruises sailing beginning Wednesday, September 10. This is before bookings will go on sale to the general public at the end of the month.
What Ports will Celebrity River Cruises Visit?
Celebrity will launch its inaugural river cruise season in 2027 with two ships sailing some of the most popular rivers in Europe. Celebrity's Danube and Rhine River itineraries are expected to be primarily 7-night sailings with port stops in countries such as Austria, Hungary, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Port cities may include destinations such as Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, Linz, and Nuremberg, among others.
What's Included on Celebrity River Cruises?
Similar to its All-Included ocean product offering, Celebrity River Cruises’ sailings will include onboard dining and drinks, WiFi, plus the choice of one shore excursion in each port of call. Further details about additional optional add-ons will be announced in the coming weeks.
Are Children Allowed Onboard?
Staterooms will be available in double occupancy, with no triple or quad guest rooms. The river cruise line will also have a minimum age requirement of at least four years old to sail. Celebrity River Cruises’ itineraries will be geared toward adult guests and will not offer kids’ programming like their ocean cruises do.
Which River Cruise Lines Will Celebrity Compete With?
Celebrity River Cruises will be a premium offering, with its closest competitors being lines such as Tauck and AmaWaterways. Viking is arguably the most well-known river cruise line, so it will also likely be a competitor, even though Celebrity River Cruises is expected to include more amenities in the cruise fare. Celebrity may also compete with luxury lines, such as Riverside Luxury Cruises. We’re eagerly awaiting details about Celebrity’s ship design, rumored to mirror its Edge Series ocean cruise ships to better evaluate how it will stack up against its river cruise competitors.
